Jean Watson
Dr. Jean Watson is Distinguished Professor and Dean Emeritus, University of Colorado Denver, where she held the nation’s first endowed Chair of Caring Science for 16 years. She is founder of the original Center for Human Caring in Colorado and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, past President of the National League for Nursing, founding member of International Association of Human Caring and International Caritas Consortium. She is Founder and Director of the not-for-profit foundation, Watson Caring Science Institute and has been honored with the distinction of Living Legend by the American Academy of Nursing.
Robert Browning
Robert Browning, PhD (h.c.) is HeartMath's Co-Director of Healthcare, Director for Health Partnerships and Senior Master Trainer. For over 27 years with HeartMath, he’s trained more than 25,000 individuals in heart-based living and helps lead programs at: Kaiser Permanente, Stanford, Ascension, Dignity and the VA. He oversees HeartMath’s healthcare alliances focused on self-care, human caring and wholeness healing. Robert and Jean have spent over a decade teaching together and uniting the education of HeartMath and Caring Science to illuminate and manifest the synergy of Heart Science and Human Caring.
Mary Rockwood Lane
Mary is the co-founder and director emeritus of Shands Arts in Medicine program at University of Florida (UF), Gainesville. She directed the program for over 15 years and is now an Associate Professor of Nursing at UF, where she teaches Creativity and Spirituality in Healthcare. In addition to writing numerous articles and books on art, spirituality and healing, she lectures and teaches workshops across the globe. As an artist and creative activist, she has been very involved in setting up art and healing programs in Florida and around the globe.
Bruce Cryer
Bruce was one of the original creators of HeartMath, the internationally renowned research institute that has pioneered new understandings around heart-brain coherence, heart intelligence, stress reduction and optimal health. Bruce served as CEO of HeartMath LLC for 11 years and has worked globally in traditional health settings with nursing organizations at Kaiser, Mayo Clinic and NHS as well as integrative health and wellness practitioners. For the past 25 years he has taught on HeartMath and Creativity at Stanford University. His landmark article on executive health, stress and performance was published twice in the Harvard Business Review. A cancer, staph infection (MRSA) and double hip replacement survivor, Bruce has an intimate connection to the healthcare system. With his creative partner Gary Malkin, Bruce created the What Makes Your Heart Sing keynote performance as featured presenter/performers for Kaiser Caritas Consortium for four years.
Christine Griffen
Chris Ph.D., RN, NPD-BC, Caritas Coach® , Caritas Leader™, is the Director of Caring Science and Nursing Practice at Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. In her Caring Science Ph.D. program, “Compassion without Fatigue,” Chris studied how theory-guided practices within Caring Science can heal those working in healthcare, giving them the capacity to flourish as they bring their authentic care and compassion to the bedside. As faculty for WCSI, she hopes to help transform healthcare from within by returning healthcare providers to the heart and meaning of their work, profoundly honored within the values and practices of Caring Science.
Gary Malkin
Gary Malkin, Founder of Wisdom of the World Wellness, is an Emmy award-winning composer, public speaker, and music and health innovator who champions the power of music to promote health, wellness, and compassion. Gary is best known for the acclaimed palliative classic, Graceful Passages, co-created with the award-winning team Michael and Doris Stillwater. Considered among the finest non-pharmacological interventions to alleviate anxiety and fear around illness and the end-of-life process, it has touched nearly a million people by offering support during the many phases of the end-of-life process and was recognized by the 2005 Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Award for their contribution to the field. Gary also had the honor to work directly with Jean Watson to produce the care for the caregiver resource, Care for the Journey.. Gary’s “keynote performances” have been warmly received at Google, Stanford Health, Houston Methodist Hospital, The National Organization of Arts and Health, among many others.
